In the world cup 1994 heald in USA, Saudi Arabia shocked Belgium at the group phase before falling to Sweden in the next round. The side were dismissed in the first round of the next three Cup competitions, including an 8-0 battering by Germany in 2002.
Saudi Arabia has won the Asian Cup on three occasions, in 1984, 1988, and 1996. They won the World Under-17 Championship in 1989.
On June 8, 2005, they qualified for their 4th World Cup by defeating Uzbekistan 3-0 in Riyadh.
